On April 12th, 2024, day two of the Indo-Russian Education Summit 2024, Russian delegates embarked on a significant visit to the National Medical Commission (NMC) office, underlining the importance of educational exchange and reinforcing the commitment to strengthen ties between the two nations.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Ms. Tatyana Semenova, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation; Mr. Oleg Osipov, Director of Russian House in New Delhi; Mr. Pavel Anatolyevich Shevtsov, Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Humanitarian Cooperation “Rossotrudnichestvo”; Dr. Dinesh Singla, Education Expert representing both India and Russia; and Retd. Air Marshal Dr. Pawan Kapoor, Technical Advisor at Rus Education.
During the visit, the delegates engaged in discussions with representatives from the NMC, including the Chairman Mr. B.N. Gangadhar, and Cabinet Secretary Dr. B. Srinivas, addressing various aspects of educational collaboration and exchange. They explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in medical education, exchange programs, and mutual recognition of qualifications. Additionally, the delegates exchanged insights on regulatory frameworks, accreditation processes, and quality assurance mechanisms to ensure the highest standards of medical education.
“We are seeing growing interest from India in Russian medical education. Since 2016, the number of Indians studying with us has increased by 200 percent. We preserve the best principles of Russian education, rather than switching to Bologna standards.” stated Deputy Minister of Health of Russia, Tatyana Semenova, during the deliberations with NMC officials.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment to fostering robust partnerships and advancing educational initiatives between Russia and India.
