About the University
Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University is the largest educational, scientific, and cultural centre in Russia's Kaliningrad Region and one of the country's 10 federal universities. Founded in 1947, IKBFU traces its academic roots to 1544 and the historic Albertina University, where philosopher Immanuel Kant once taught. Today, the university has around 13,500 students from 51 countries, including a growing Indian student community. IKBFU offers more than 195 degree programs across medicine, law, engineering, IT, humanities, and natural sciences. Its academic structure includes 13 higher schools, a university college, and a medical college. As part of Russia's Priority 2030 program, IKBFU conducts research across 30 scientific fields with over 200 researchers. The university is also developing the world-class Kantiana Campus, a 29-hectare "city within a city," featuring modern academic buildings, dormitories, research spaces, and student life facilities.
