Established in 1920, the university bears the name of Alexey N. Kosygin, a prominent figure in Russian history and the Prime Minister of the Soviet Union from 1964 to 1981, noted for fostering strong diplomatic and economic ties with India. With a student body exceeding 10,400, including over 1,000 international students from 76 countries, the institution boasts a robust global presence. Impressively, 97% of its graduates secure employment upon completion of their studies. Comprising 13 institutes (faculties) and two branches in Tver and Novosibirsk, the university offers a diverse array of academic programs, encompassing 90 bachelor's, 85 master's, and diploma specialist programs, as well as 18 Ph.D. programs and four permanent Ph.D. committees.
