The Northern Forum (NF) is the international organization of northern regions established on November 8, 1991. The Secretariat is located in Yakutsk, Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Russia.
The mission of the Northern Forum is to improve the quality of life for the population and support the sustainable development of regions. The Northern Forum has an observer status in the Arctic Council and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and is accredited by the UN Environment Program. It is planned to apply to other global organizations for an observer status. The activities of the Northern Forum are fully supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic. The Northern Forum has a wide network of partners. Over the past 3 years, a significant number of agreements have been signed, including with Roscongress Fund, Russian Association of the Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East (RAIPON), Association of Women in Nuclear Russia, Project Office for Arctic Development, North Research and Education Center, and others.
The Northern Forum intends to maintain active communication with partners from the Arctic countries, ensure the involvement of Russian experts in the activities of the Arctic Council, BRICS, International Conference on Arctic Research Planning, and the International Polar Year.
