Founded in 1899 as an engineering school in Russia, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University has evolved into a federal state autonomous institution of higher education. Renowned for its expertise in training and multidisciplinary research, SPbPU holds the prestigious status of a national research university.
In 2021, the university achieved a significant milestone by being selected as one of the inaugural winners in the "Research Leadership" track of the Federal Strategic Academic Leadership Program "Priority 2030".
SPbPU offers education through programs across 12 institutes. Situated in the northwest of the city, the campus boasts 42 academic buildings, 18 dormitories, the House of Scientists, and a sports complex. Housing world-class scientific centers, research units, and recreation facilities, the university accommodates over 26,090 students, including 5,000+ international students. Guided by 25 academicians, corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and over 500 professors and doctors of science, students receive top-tier education and mentorship.
The university has established partnerships with over 350 prominent universities across 64 countries and maintains direct contractual relationships with over 70 companies and organizations from 28 countries.
